OSH 2010

Postings about organizing, and reporting on, informal gatherings of UCAP listeners.

Sorry but I try to stay below the radar and don't file. I change my mind to often, or forget where I'm going and pick a cool new destination. Tonight turned out to be Mobridge, SD after a quick peek at Mt Rushmore from 7700 feet. What a zoo down below with heliocopters and planes going every which way all talking at once on 123.00. It was beautiful up where I was, and uncrowded. Love that clean fresh air.
We may be slow, but we get there.

As I mentioned earlier, when the Meetup(s) plans solidify I'll post a recap on the UCAP home page.

In the meantime, consider an alternate idea: Instead of negotiating one or two fixed times for meeting, have an open-ended daily meetup. Once upon a time the rec.aviation forums gang used to meet each day, after the daily airshow, at the base of the (old) tower.

Now that the tower's gone, I might suggest the grassy area (with benches), next to the Brown Arch.

Just wander by there each day, and look like a UCAP listener, and let the evening plans evolve from there.

Just an idea.

And a good one
Will fabricate a hat or lapel badge with the official UCAP logo ie. [UCAP]
Now I've got time to reread the Notam and have a Linies.
Somewhere nearby hoping the ground hardens for tomorrow when we all fly to Ripon at once expecting to just motor on in.

Cheers

I talked with Jack today. He is suggesting an early dinner get-together on Thursday (that's tomorrow) before the MyTransponder party (which begins at 7pm)

Jack suggests Friar Tucks (because it's close). So, how many can make an early session of drinks and dinner on Thursday at Friar Tucks? Probably around 4:30-5:00)

Don't post your answer to the forums, because we won't get it in time. Tweet with the #UCAP hashtag, send me a direct message through this forum, or text me at 9789871142@vztext.com

Thank you guys
Just glad I could help with the "problem" of being over gross with Linies. And I didn't have to drive.
Looking forward to next time.

Thanks, the LRP was a great idea. Loved the Honey Weiss - not so much the Summer Shanty. Good to see and meet so many UCAPpers!

As those who attended know, Rick Felty and I traveled to OSH10 together. Most everyone on this board have seen Rick's photos and flying videos, but here is his work from our days at OSH10:

And a video of our arrival into the airport:

Nice pics, and a great ride.
It is good to see how the other half lives once in a while, somewhat humbling.
